"Mopping is sloppy and gross, and nobody likes doing it."
Once upon a time, I used to mop. I mean real, old-school mopping, like with a bucket of sudsy warm water and a sponge mop.
We had two young boys and a sort of indoor/outdoor situation, so lots of dirty little feet running back and forth between the garden and the kitchen. That’s a lot of foot traffic. So, every night, after I made dinner, ate dinner, cleared the table, and did the dishes, I would mop the entire kitchen floor. Ugh! Just thinking about it now makes me tired and grumpy.
We had just started this company, so I had our labs create a little plant-based cleaner that I could splash onto the floor and wipe down with a damp mop. It was technically still mopping, but taking the bucket out of the equation made it seem effortless by comparison.
One day, I ran out of my own supply, so I grabbed a bottle of All-Purpose Cleaner from under the sink, sprayed it on the floor a little bit, and wiped it up with a paper towel. Genius. That was the lightbulb moment when we decided to offer our floor cleaner with a trigger sprayer on the bottle.
We mostly spot clean on the daily now and skip the mop altogether. I either spot clean or do a light spritz of cleaner on the floor, wipe it up with a towel and call it a day. A trigger sprayer on a bottle of floor cleaner makes sense because we figured that's how people clean in real life. If you have kids or dogs (or maybe you just dropped an egg and don't want to mop the whole floor), a trigger is perfect for a quick clean-up.
By the way, we were the first brand to add a pump to Dish Soap for the same reason. Delivery is everything.
Put the mop down and get your feet up. Who wants another glass of Pinot?
